Art Fair Philippines Special Exhibitions: Pow Martinez & Wawi Navarroza
Pow Martinez & Wawi Navarroza
The Link Roofdeck
About
Special exhibitions entitled Delusions of Grandeur Woke Farm by Pow Martinez and As Wild As We Come by Wawi Navarroza will be presented in the fair's special projects section at The Link Roofdeck.
Pow Martinez (b. Manila, lives and works in Manila) will present new paintings in his defining mischievous style, featuring his cast of odd, loud, and absurd characters that have been part of his distinct visual language over the years. He describes his current process as "what a nature painter might do in a digital landscape."
Pow Martinez will also be part of a panel discussion entitled Mortal Wanderings: Kiko Escora, Pow Martinez, and Yeo Kaa imagine and re-imagine the human body as a persona or a metaphor of society, where he will be talking about his art practice on 18 February, Saturday, 1PM at The Link Roofdeck.
Wawi Navarroza (b. Manila, lives and works in Istanbul) will debut in Manila her latest body of work from her first solo exhibition in London. As Wild As We Come is a collection of self-portraits that marks the artist's transformation as a mother and a move from Manila to Istanbul, a country that lies in the intersection of ancient and modern cultures. This exhibition will be re-mounted at Silverlens Manila from 2 March to 5 April.
